Lithuania Passes An Old Testament Type Of Law

In what looks like a step back into the old days, the really old days, such as B.C.E., Lithuania passes a law that prohibits children from hearing anything about gays or the homosexual lifestyle. How do they justify such a law? By using the same ideas that fundamentalists try to use in America, namely family values.

Vowing to defend family values in the predominantly Catholic nation, lawmakers overturned a presidential veto on the legislation, which bans publicly disseminating material deemed harmful to the mental health and “intellectual or moral development” of minors.

As you can imagine opponents are furious stating that:

“The idea behinds this law is quite homophobic. It’s a violation of international human rights standards.”
